Sefton Council has recently announced that they are planning to close the much loved and iconic aviary at Botanic Gardens in Churchtown.
We are calling on Sefton Council to reverse this decision and we are asking members of the public to support us by signing our petition to save the aviary.
The aviary holds a special place in the hearts of many across Southport with memories of childhood visits and many people who've grown up in Southport having then taken their own children there. It's part of the fabric of Southport and one of the many quirky features that makes Southport such a great place to live, work and visit.
The closure of the aviary will save around £60,000 for Sefton Council but we think there are plenty of other ways the council can find this money within their budgets.
All parties across the political spectrum want to see the aviary saved and we want to help bring as much pressure as possible on Sefton Council for them to change their minds and reverse what is a terrible decision for Southport.
Sign our petition to show your support for keeping the aviary open.
