Local Elections 2026 - Let Us Know Your Views

Later this year, on 7th May, Southport and the rest of Sefton, will be going to the polls for Local Elections. These are the biggest set of local elections for our area in many years and are known as "all out elections", meaning that every single council seat in Sefton is up for election at the same time.

Rather than the usual 1 vote, all eligible voters will have 3 votes to cast at the same time, as you will be electing all 3 of your ward councillors together. We think these elections are a huge opportunity for Southport to make it's voice heard within Sefton and we say "Let's Put Southport First!".

Southport is a fantastic town with a rich history and, most importantly, great people who help make Southport not just a town, but a community. Yet for too long, our community has been treated as an afterthought by a Labour run Sefton Council based in Bootle who waste your money. Since 2012 they have failed to deliver for our town, failed residents and failed local businesses.

Southport Conservatives have a plan to improve our town and deliver for local residents and businesses:

  • 3 hours free parking in Southport town centre to help local businesses and encourage more visitors.
  • Scrapping unused town centre cycle lanes and pointless cycle lane schemes, such as that being proposed down the centre of The Promenade.
  • Improving our town centre and rejuvenating Lord Street by tackling anti-social behaviour, street drinking and focusing on the cleanliness and tidiness of all parts of our town centre.
  • A back to basics approach for roads and pavements. Maintaining what we already have and making sure roads and pavements across Southport are looked after.
  • Preserving our heritage, such as properly maintaining our iconic Pier by making it a greater priority for Sefton Council.
  • Saving Southport Beach through our plans for a public consultation on beach management and a plan to keep the area of beach from Weld Road roundabout to the Pier designated as a leisure beach. A seaside town needs an accessible beach.
  • An end to Labour's waste. No more buying shopping centres in Bootle for £32.5 million, no more funding a building company that owes taxpayers £8 million, no more financing catering companies that lose £1.9 million. Conservatives will deliver sound financial management from people with the experience and know how that Southport needs.

We want to hear from you and what you think of our plans for Southport and what you think needs to be prioritised to make our town an even better to place to live, work and visit.

Your vote matters and in May, if you want to deliver the real practical and sensible change that Southport needs, then Vote Conservative.
